These are a collection of my smaller, hand-hooked wool and needle-felted paintings. Unlike my Signature Series, which are one-of-a-kind pieces, I sometimes create more than one of these images, although no two are exactly alike. They are perfect small reminders of favorite places and inspiring objects in nature.
How they are made~
The hand-hooked wool art is created using hand-dyed wool on a monk’s cloth backing fabric. The needle felted pieces are made using a wool backing fabric with a foam block placed under it. Using fibers made from silk and wool fleece, I create the image by pushing the fibers through the wool backing fabric with a barbed needle. The inspiration for the landscape pieces sometimes comes loosely from one or more photos, or often from my own personal memories. The needle-felted paintings are either framed or adhered to Maine driftwood for display. The hand-hooked wool paintings come complete with a metal hanger sewn on the back or a beaded wire for hanging, and may also be displayed on an easel, a flat surface, or in a frame.
